cel volunteers visit caritas lok hing child care centre
china everbright limited (“cel”, stock code: 165)’s volunteer team visited caritas lok hing child care centre located in tuen mun. this centre provides professional training and education mainly to the children aged 2-6, with special needs such as autistic disorder, down's syndrome and development delay, etc. through the visit and game sessions in a joyful learning environment, the volunteers express their love and care to the children with moderate to severe disability, as well as gain better understanding of the children with special needs so as to enhance an inclusive society.
to have a better preparation for the visit, tutors from caritas have arranged a briefing and training session in advance for the volunteers to teach them the skills needed to interact with the children. on the day of visit, 14 volunteers from cel took part in various group games and sing-along songs with around 30 children with special needs, and had refreshments together. it was full of fun and laughter during the visit, both the volunteers and children enjoyed themselves very much.
moreover, china everbright charitable foundation has sponsored the centre for buying gifts and teaching materials for the children through donation. in return, the tutors and children from the centre presented a hand-made thank-you card to the volunteers to express the gratitude for their love and care.
cel is a corporation committed to corporate social responsibility. in the past few years, cel has organised a number of volunteer services including a visit to elderly home, special children care centre, sheltered workshop, participation in everbright project’s large-scale activity and “sowers action challenging”, as well as had the parent-child visiting program to lifeline express eye-train hospital in shandong. all these activities received good response and support from cel staff. cel will organise similar activities in the future and hope that these volunteer services can provide opportunities for its staff to serve the community in leisure time.
