ceo chen shuang took office as chairman of cuaafa

on 17 october 2011, the china universities alumni association – financial association (“cuaafa”) held a cocktail reception at the atrium, 39th floor, island shangri-la hotel to celebrate its third anniversary and the inauguration of its new board. mr. chen shuang, ceo of china everbright limited (“cel”), took office as the new chairman of cuaafa. 
 
former chairperson ms. zhu yanlai was elected as the permanent honorary chairperson. the new board of cuaafa comprises chen shuang, ceo of cel, lin yong, ceo of haitong international, hu zhanghong, ceo of ccb international, xie yonghai, executive vice president of boc international, li shan, vice chairman asia of ubs investment bank, frank m. song, director of centre for china financial research of the university of hong kong, philip zhai, managing director of jp morgan investment banking – china coverage, mike poon, chairman of friedmann pacific investment holdings limited, jay luo, managing director of sac capital, ma jun, managing director and chief economist for greater china of deutsche bank, chen dong, president of china life franklin asset management, sun mingchun, managing director and chief economist for greater china of daiwa capital markets, and huang shaoming, senior economist of bank of china (hong kong). 
 
chen shuang said that under the leadership of ms. zhu, cuaafa built a solid foundation in the past three years, and provided a good platform of exchange for the increasing number of professionals in the financial center of hong kong. building on such foundation, cuaafa will continue to pool together elites from various financial institutions whose expertise can enhance cuaafa’s financial industry research. via its channels with hong kong’s financial authority and the central government, cuaafa also provides policy views and ideas to promote the long-term prosperity of the city. moreover, as an influential organization, cuaafa plans to register itself as an independent society while remaining as an important part of the china universities alumni association, in order to play greater roles in social affairs. 
 
the reception was hosted by ms. zheng jingyi, a well-known financial program anchor at phoenix television. mr. andrew sheng, former chairman of the hong kong securities and futures commission, delivered a keynote speech on the impact of the global financial crisis. in a subsequent discussion on “the impact of double-dip in the us and europe on china and hong kong”, mr. ma jun, vice chairman of cuaafa, mr. sun mingchun and ms. hu yifan, chief economist at haitong international, provided an in-depth analysis on the european debt crisis and the outlook of the chinese economy in the years ahead. over 200 guests from the financial industry attended the event and met industry experts up-close.
