cel’s volunteer team visited heep hong society’s special child care centre (catherine lo centre) located in wah fu estate. this centre provides professional training and education mainly to the children aged 3-6, with special needs such us autistic disorder, mental retardation and development delay, etc. through volunteers’ visit and games, the volunteers expressed their love and care to the children with autistic disorder, as well as gaining a better understanding of them.
to have a better preparation for the visit, tutors from heep hong society have arranged a briefing and training session in advance for the volunteers to teach them the skills needed to interact with the children. on the day of visit, 15 volunteers from cel took part in various group games with more than 20 children with special needs. it was full of fun and laughter during the visit, both the volunteers and children enjoyed themselves very much. in return, the tutors and children from the centre presented a hand-made thank-you card to the volunteers to express the gratitude for their love and care.
moreover, china everbright charitable foundation has sponsored the centre for its function to be held in coming october, namely “perception with fun”. through various indoor group games in a sand playground, this activity aims to provide perception training to children with special needs, so as to strengthen their perceived response and the coordination of muscle development.
